Kindly scroll down to explore the digital Holy Week activities we created to facilitate online teaching. Please note: Most of them work best on a computer monitor or iPad/tablet – not on a phone.
Use the slideshow to discuss the main themes of each day on a remote lesson – contains animated elements!
Choose the correct answer – you have 30 seconds!
Click on two digital cards to flip them over, trying to make up a pair. In an online session, the teacher shares the game on his/her screen, while the students direct him/her to click on the cards they wish to flip over.
PASCHAL TROPARION WORD SCRAMBLE
Solve the puzzle to learn the Paschal troparion: “Christ is risen from the dead / trampling down death by death / and on those in the tombs / bestowing life”. The teacher shares his/her screen with the game, and then types in the words that the students suggest.
DIGITAL EGG CRACKING
Natalie’s teenage son helped create a simple online application as a social-distancing version of the custom of cracking Pascha eggs. Use it with your digital Sunday School classes to “crack” the eggs while on a video call. As we return to celebrating Pascha at our parishes in person, the application can still be used with family and friends who live far away – or if the children want to keep cracking eggs when all the dyed eggs have already been cracked :-).
HOW TO PLAY FROM AFAR:
- Share your screen so everyone sees the game.
- Ask two people to choose one egg each. They will not click on the eggs, only tell you which egg they want.
- Hit the button to see whose egg will crack!
