GREAT LENT CRAFT KIT TUTORIAL: Veneration of the Holy Cross

HOW TO MAKE THIS WEEK’S CRAFT

This craft is a paper wreath to honor the Holy Cross, inspired by the Church celebration of the Feast of the Veneration of the Holy Cross.

You will need:

• The relevant crafting templates, from our Great Lent Craft Kit.
• Scissors and glue. Double-sided tape can be very handy but is not required.
• A piece of ribbon, about 16 inches long.
• The craft is designed to look pretty just as it is; however, if desired, it can be further embellished with additional materials of your choice, such as ribbons, buttons, mini-pompoms, sequins, etc.

Step 1

Cut out the template shapes. Fold the leaf shapes in half crosswise. On the top parts of the flowers, cut a slit along the dotted line.

Step 2

Make the top parts of the flowers by gluing each piece onto itself as shown.

Step 3

Position the leaves at the bottom part of the wreath by folding them around it and then gluing them to secure in place.

Step 4

Glue the large parts of the flowers onto the wreath, then glue the smaller parts on top of the large ones.

Step 5

Fold the ribbon in half and tape it to the back of the wreath.

Step 6

If you would like the scroll-type label to have a three-dimensional look, roll the edges around a pencil, one edge to one side and the other one to the opposite side.

Step 7

Glue the label onto the wreath.
